Road trip

இங்க மே 29ம் தேதி Memorial day அனுசரிக்க பட்டதால long Weekend கெடச்சுது.

Klamath falls
Crater Lake
Sand Dunes
Sea Lion Caves

Reservation

Let us suppose 1000 students are studying in 12th (HSC) standard in a small town. Out of them 300 students are from upper class/upper middle class family and 700 students from middle/lower middle class family.
In that town, some Govt. and some private colleges are there. Few of the Govt. colleges are popular and the student will definitely get a job if he finishes his degree in those colleges.
Consider the folowing exam results (entrance + HSC):
1. Most of the students from upper class/upper middle class family score more than 80%.
2. Most of the students from middle/lower middle class family score less than 80%.
Govt. college X can admit 250 students in a year. If the seats are given purely based on merit, the students from the first category will fill all the seats and very few from the second category.

The reason for the first category of students to get good score was they were given proper coaching. And this will be possible only if their family is economically good. I am damn sure that all of these students attended some coaching classes.
If you see the second category of students, their families were not able to support them financially and they could send their son/daughter for coaching classes.
I have the following Questions in my mind which I dont have clear answer:
1. Did both types of students get similar kind of education?
2. Should all the students be admitted purely based on merit?
3. If yes, when will the second category of students get the seat in that college?
So, the first category will continue to be the same in the future and very few of second category will migrate to the first category.

I wonder why only Doctors and Engineers are against this reservsation. If reservation is not good for the country's grwoth, why dont the other Govt. employees like teachers, advocates, police, accountants, clerks, peons.....can join with them.
I feel economically poor and bright students should be given oppurtunity. Reservation should be classified based on family income and not by caste.

CRYSTAL Mountain

This weekend went fine for me. Its been two weeks since I entered into the United states. In the first weekend, I just went with my colleague (Actually I didnt have an idea to buy anything) to a shopping mall in Bellevue which is very near to Microsoft headquarters. Thought of buying a pair of shoes. But I could not find a good one :-(.

My roommates are staying here for more than a year and they know almost all the places in Washington state. So, I asked them to take me to a nice place. Initially we planned to go to Mount Rainier and started our journey. But unfortunately the roads were closed as it was covered by snow. Then we proceeded to CRYSTAL mountain which is famous for SKIing. Since this is my first time to touch & see snow, I was amazed to see the place. After our lunch we started to climb over the mountian. It was very thrilling and risky too to climb over as the slope was more than 60 deg (I am serious). After 2 hours of climbing, all of us lost our energy to climb further and we gave up.

We were damn sure that if we come down in the same way, we would end up in accident and severe injury. So, we searched & found another route which is being used for skiing in the winter. Appuram ellaarum sarukkikitte keezha vandhu serndhom in just 10 mins. Thank God for showing another path. People say that it will be nice to visit the palce in winter. Let me see if I get an oppurtunity.

First pic is Mount Rainier taken from our car.

Pacha Kudhira

Eventhough it is not a good movie to write review about it, I am just writing my opinion about this movie. This may help others to avoid watching this crap.
The story is not new to Tamil film industry. He is a rowdy, hits everyone in the Kuppam and no one likes him including his mother. First half of the movie has nothing but Parthiban's looties with Namitha. He tried his level best to beat SJ.Surya. In the second half of the movie he does some good things to the people living in his Kuppam and becomes hero. The people who scolded him, starts to call him "Thalaiva" once he gets water to the Kuppam. As usual he kills other 2 rowdies in the climax.
Padam thaan kodumai-na, song adhuku mela. You can find lyrics like "Kola kola Kozhy kozhambu" in the songs.
Written & Directed by R.Parthiban. I wonder how come he gets stories like this.
Kudumbathudan paarthu magizha koodiya padam idhu KANDIPA illai.

Around half of the World

I am writing this blog from US. Uhh??? eppo da US pona??...I have come here to US for a short term assignment. I started from India on April 30th 2.45AM and reached Seattle on the same day at 8.40 PM. But it took around 30 hours to reach here. Flight journey was not as good as I expected and it was boring. (No gal(s) in my next seat ;-)) Since I am tall, I managed to sit in the fixed seat in the flight :( . It was almost same as Rajahamsa bus of KSRTC. In the bus we can tilt & push the seat. But in flight we cant. Since I was preparing for my journey I could not read any of the blogs for the past one week. Moreover I am yet to get my system in the office. I am recovering from JetLag now.

Here the culture, people, rules & regulations, weather, etc....everything looks new to me. As I am staying with my friends, I am getting good company and good food too.
